Flash-konceptet är hämtat från Ruby on Rails och ger ett sätt att passera tillfälliga objekt mellan användarvyerna som genereras av ansiktslivscykeln. Liksom i Rails, allt som en plats i blixten exponeras för nästa vy som möts av samma användarsession och sedan rensas bort. Det är viktigt att notera att "nästa vy" kan ha samma visnings-id som föregående vy.

JSF-implementeringen måste säkerställa att blixtens korrekta beteende bevaras även i fallet med en <navigation-case> som innehåller en <redirect /> . Implementeringen måste säkerställa att blixtens korrekta beteende bevaras även när det gäller intilliggande GET-förfrågningar på samma session. Detta gör att Faces-applikationer fullt ut kan använda designen ”Post / Redirect / Get”.
