Spacers maken

Sommige e-mailclients (met name Windows Desktop Outlook) vouwen tabellen zonder inhoud samen, zelfs als er afmetingen of opvulling zijn.

Om te voorkomen dat deze clients de spacertabel instorten, kunt u een onzichtbare   dat dient als inhoud. Dan nul het karakter font-size en line-height zodat het geen invloed <table> s afmetingen. Het kenmerk hoogte (of breedte) is nu het enige dat de afmetingen van de afstandhouder beïnvloedt.

Het was gebruikelijk om een 1x1 transparante .gif als afstandhouder te gebruiken, maar deze methode is verouderd.

Elementafstand

Outlook kan soms een beetje ruimte aan de linker- en rechterkant van een element toevoegen die voor opmaakgerelateerde problemen kan zorgen. Door de verkoper-specifieke mso-table-lspace en mso-table-rspace CSS-eigenschappen te gebruiken, kunt u van die spaties afkomen en doorgaan met het aanpakken van de miljoen andere problemen die door Outlook worden veroorzaakt.

Beeldformaat wijzigen

Het gebruik van breedte- of hoogtetags om het formaat van afbeeldingen in uw markeringen te wijzigen, kan een probleem veroorzaken in Internet Explorer-browsers. Als uw lezer een e-mail in de browser bekijkt en die e-mail bevat toevallig vloeiende afbeeldingen, zien ze er nogal lelijk uit als ze het formaat wijzigen. Gebruik van -ms-interpolatiemodus: bicubisch; zorgt ervoor dat uw afbeeldingen er iets beter uitzien.
